We are pleased to announce that the Western Cape PBS Policy (Performance-Based Standards) has now been formally approved for implementation. Under this policy, smart/heavy vehicles may apply for PBS permits to operate in the Western Cape. These vehicles are engineered to deliver higher payloads, enhanced safety, and reduced road and bridge wear.
Applications open 1 November 2025, but only once your company is certified under the Road Transport Management System (RTMS) and you have completed the required Concept Approval and vehicle/route assessments. Previous applications (before 1 November 2025) will not be considered. For full details and to apply, see the link below.
